Sunglo's radiant heaters cover a 12 foot to 20 foot circle. Sunglo heaters are "comfort heaters", and the coverage is the area in which people receive a comforting amount of heat. Some people require more or less heat to consider themselves "warm", and may adjust the heater according to their warming desires.

Placement Locations of Sunglo Heaters

The majority of owners of Sunglo heaters place their heaters in the center of outdoor activities. Try to place your heater or heaters in areas where people tend to gather in your specific outdoor situation, where furnishings can be moved easily as well. In hotels and restaurants, place near seating and / or lounging areas. When placing near swimming pools, place heaters near pool decks, entrances, drying areas, etc. Other ideas include near concession areas, commercial sales establishments, waiting areas, and entertainment venues.

General Rules of Thumb for Placing a Heater

Maintaining a particular level of heat and comfort is easier in areas protected by weather, rather than areas exposed to the elements. A Sunglo heater will work effectively in areas that are completely exposed to the elements, but a protected area is more desirable. When an area is protected, that protection allows the air to warm effectively and enhance the radiant warming effect of a Sunglo heater. If you're adding a heater to existing construction, consider placing heaters near to a gas supply line. Warming areas that are subject to prevailing winds can be offset slightly to the windward side of the area of heating, allowing the wind to carry warm air into the area of warming. Don't forget to place heaters within clearance restrictions and keep away from combustibles. The top of the reflector's clearance is 18" and the clearance from the sides of the reflector are 24".

Using More than one Heater

When more than one heater is being used, it's preferable to place them near each other. Multiple heaters placed on 8 foot to 12 foot centers will provide overlapping patterns of heat. What this means is that more total heat reaches people between the heaters, and provide more comfort in even cooler weather than is possible with only one heater. Some homeowners realize that a single heater provides enough heat, but but some larger areas will require more than a single patio heater.
